VGH Awards Tony Anthony Scholarship.Congratulations to Katelyn Hyland for receiving the Tony Anthony Scholarship. This award is given annually to an employee of Virginia Gay Nursing & Rehab who wants to further their education and training. Established in 2012 by Dr. Anthony’s Family to honor his many years of service as a physician in Vinton and in gratitude for the care he received as a resident of VGH Nursing & Rehab.

 The following nursing students received their white coats in a ceremony on September 9:  Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mount Mercy University is the regional Catholic, Mercy University that promises students of diverse backgrounds, ages, and faiths a challenging, practical education that inspires them to discover knowledge, build community, and live their values.

With harvest season upon us, the Benton County Community Foundation wants farmers to know about and to consider the opportunity to benefit their local community through a gift of grain. Donating a gift of grain is a simple way to make a charitable gift outside of the traditional cash contribution. “Making a gift of grain is a unique way of giving that many don’t consider although it might make sense for an individual or family who farms and is also interested in being charitable,” said Terry Gaumer, affiliate development director with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.

 196 undergraduate students and 241 graduate students graduated from Morningside University on Saturday, May 14 at the commencement ceremony held at Elwood Olsen Stadium on Morningside's campus.Among the graduates for May and summer 2022 is:Anthony E. Troyna, of Urbana, Master of Arts in Teaching Morningside's 2022 commencement marks the final ceremony for President John Reynders who will retire in June 2022 as the longest serving president in Morningside's history.

Parents Entered in Drawing After Receiving College and Career Planning Information for Their StudentsThirty-six Iowa parents and guardians each received $250 in college savings deposits after their entries were randomly selected in a quarterly drawing sponsored by Iowa Student Loan Liquidity Corporation®. The winners were among 1,002 eligible participants who entered after receiving free college and career planning information for their middle and high school students.

Many turn to private education loans at this time of year. Because most traditional-age students need cosigners to qualify or receive better rates or because you would like take out a loan in your name to help pay a child's expenses, you as a parent may be investigating student loan options yourself.

You rarely see a wedding party on a hay ride. But when you do, you have to follow the fun. So I did. I Interrupted the celebration just long enough to snap a few photos and quickly get out of the way. It's little things like the happiness of a couple that makes me smile. It's easy to be grateful to see the joy of a couple starting life out together.

Upper Iowa University announces the Dean's List for the 2022 spring semester.
